OSCE mission to monitor presidential election campaign in Ukraine


Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Valeriy Dzhyhun told a briefing that OSCE mission would monitor presidential election campaign in Ukraine from November 23, according to National radio. He also said that the mission of observers from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights will be led by Swiss diplomat Heidi Tagliavini.

OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Joao Soares will head the mission of observers from the OSCE PA. A total of 56 long-term observers from the OSCE are expected to stay in Ukraine until January 28, 2010, or until February 27, 2010 if the second round of presidential elections is held.
