Government to stabilize the situation with coal consumption


The Government of Ukraine is tackling an issue of stabilization of the situation with consumption of coal. Yulia Tymoshenko, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, said Monday at a special sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Government portal reported.

The Premier emphasized from January 1 of the current year Ukraine hadn’t realized around 20% of coal. “We should make our best to understand how to buy coal, to pay salaries to miners, how to ensure the branch’s sustainable development instead of destruction,” Yulia Tymoshenko urged.

According to her, consumption of electric power in February of 2009 against an analogous period of last year decreased by 15%: “As a result we are certainly facing cut in needs to consume energy coal and other kinds of coal which can be meant for heat power plants”.

The PM imparted the amount of mining and smelting production has shortened approximately by 40%, which in its turn entailed accumulation of huge amount of coal on mines.
