Finance ministry hopes for IMF mission to resume work in Ukraine

The Finance Ministry of Ukraine counts on a speediest restoration of work of the International Monetary Fund mission in Ukraine, the ministry's statement says, UKRINFORM reports.

“During its March 11 meeting, the government endorsed a number of decisions, whose implementation will create prerequisites for return of the IMF mission to Ukraine and its further negotiations in Kyiv on a second tranche of the stand-by program,” the statement reads.

The finance ministry emphasized that mass media reports on the IMF having returned to Ukraine the documents earlier sent to the Fund, do not correspond to fact.

“The signing (by Ukrainian authority) of the joint declaration was taken at the IMF as confirmation of Ukrainian powers' preparedness for implementation of economic policy to overcome the crisis,” the statement says.

According to the ministry, during the talks with the IMF in the course of the past two weeks, the parties outlined joint positions concerning correction of the Ukraine - Fund program.

On March 3, Ukraine sent to the IMF a draft letter of intent on further cooperation with the Fund.

After this Ukraine and the IMF discussed positions on implementation of the commitments to the fund, undertaken earlier.
