Prime cost of gas extraction doubles - gas traders association

The prime cost of natural gas extraction in Ukraine has nearly doubled, Roman Storozhev, president of the Association of Gas Traders of Ukraine, told a round-table meeting, UKRINFORM reported.

“More precise data are available with companies, but I can say in 2008 the self-cost of gas extraction in Ukraine, respective of the deposit, totaled USD 100 - 103 per 1,000 cubic meters,” he said.

On top Storozhev noted the finance and economy crisis would not influence gas extraction and the volume of private company investments.

As he put it, the sale of the domestic gas to industrial consumers in 2009 would be 1.8 billion cubic meters. Some 2 or 3 billion cubic meters of Ukraine-mined gas more, staying with traders, will be sold to industrial consumers from underground deposits.
