Turchyov: IMF crediting halted for politics rather than budget deficit

The suspension of the second tranche of the International Monetary Fund loan to Ukraine owes to other but the national budget deficit reasons, First Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Turchynov told the press, Ukrinform reported.

“I attentively read a letter from the IMF heads, who actually support the position of the government and Verkhovna Rada on preserving the current budget deficit,” he emphasized. At the same time, Turchynov says, the International Monetary Fund drew attention in the first place to the conflict situation and discord in the Ukrainian authority performance.

The IMF decided to give Ukraine a stabilization credit of USD 16.4 billion for coping with results of the finance and economy crisis. The program was designed for two years. Ukraine received the first tranche of the credit in the amount of USD 4.5 billion in November.
