President Viktor Yushchenko met yesterday with the President of the EBRD Thomas Mirow, presidential press office reported.
At the meeting Yushchenko thanked Thomas Mirov for cooperation
between the EBRD and Ukraine, saying that it renders “great financial
support to Ukraine”, which is greatly appreciated.
Speaking about potentially beneficial directions for development of
cooperation President Yushchenko said that Ukraine is interested in the
EBRD taking part in projects connected to energy security, energy
saving and nuclear energy. Separately he mentioned turning Chernobyl
NPP into safe object.
From his part Thomas Mirow said that the EBRD is ready to develop
cooperation with Ukraine further and will do so. However, Mr. Mirov
noted, in times of world financial crisis the banking system are in
hard situation with financial resources. Additional risk is presented
by unstable national currencies’ exchange rates.
