Naftogaz says gas agreements with Russia are optimal

The top management of Naftogaz of Ukraine believes that the Ukrainian-Russian agreements on the supply of Russian gas to Ukraine and its transit across the country to Europe are currently optimal and the only possible documents, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

Naftogaz said that all of the independent experts had praised the role and participation of Ukrainian delegates in the talks, as well as their outcome.

"The correlation of the price of gas and its transit fee for Ukraine, foreseen by the contracts, is one of the best ones on the European continent," reads the statement.

The company said that the European Union had expressed its satisfaction with the results of the negotiations and believes that Ukraine has done all it could to ensure energy stability in Europe without any losses to its own security.

Naftogaz also said that the politicization of this issue and speculation on it could only aggravate relations between Ukraine and Russia in the gas sector and cause significant damage to the Ukrainian economy.
