President meets the NBU Chairman


President Viktor Yushchenko met today with National Bank Chairman Volodymyr Stelmakh, president's press office reported. 

At the meeting the officials discussed the situation in banking sector and at currencies market. 

Volodymyr Stelmakh informed Viktor Yushchenko that the NBU is holding regular consultative meetings with representatives of commercial banks to coordinate further steps with them. He also said that unfortunately the flow-out of deposits is continuing, which means that depositors still have no confidence in banks. 

President Yushchenko from his part insisted that a set of measures aimed at stabilizing banking sector was elaborated. He also pointed to importance of maintaining stable national currency exchange rate.
