Merkel doesn’t want to see Ukraine in NATO now

Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel indirectly spoke against Ukraine’s and Georgia’s joining NATO. Merkel stated on Monday in Berlin.

According to her, there is no necessity to hasten the admission of countries to the Northern Alliance, which do not have strong people’s support of plans concerning joining NATO.

A country must become a member of the Alliance, “when there is considerable support concerning NATO membership, but not when only a leadership of a country wants this,” the chancellor of Germany noted.

Besides, Merkel added that one shouldn’t hasten to admit countries with inner conflicts to the Alliance.
