Yushchenko welcomed agreement between Gazprom and Naftogaz


President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko welcomed last agreement between Naftogaz Ukraine and Gazprom on solution of crisis situation in gas sphere.

“I welcome Russian side – Gazprom and Ukrainian side –Naftogaz on reached understanding. I am not a supporter of gas war, I stand for dialogue. I am convinced that we need to use less emotions but to follow pragmatic national interests,” Yushchenko said yesterday after the sides reached understanding.

Yushchenko reminded on agreements between Russia and Ukraine reached on high level in February. The first one – calculations for supplied gas in 2007 are made at USD 130 per 1000 cubic meters. The second agreement – price for supplied gas is USD 179.5 per 1000 cubic meters since January 2008. The third agreement was joint activity of Gazprom and Naftogaz Ukraine on gas market without unexpected actions.

 
“Today we can say that two out of three agreements are achieved. I am thankful to experts who held necessary consultations and reached final agreements,” the President said.
 
In particular, yesterday Gazprom and Naftogaz agreed that gas supplied from January 1 to March 1, 2008 would be paid by Naftogaz Ukraine completely. Issues on supplies of gas by Russian side will be regulated. Negotiations on other issues of cooperation in gas sphere will be proceeded.
