BYuT stands for immunity cancellation

People’s deputy from BYuT faction Mykola Tomenko is convinced that today immunity which spreads not only to the President and People’s deputies but also to all judicial system including local court is a source of political corruption in modern Ukraine.

Tomenko reminded that in September 2007 his team initiated national referendum in order to know people’s position concerning optimal model of power. One of the nine issues of the referendum concerned cancellation of immunity of high officials of the state, People’s deputies and judges.

According to Tomenko, it is necessary to cancel immunity of the President, People’s deputies and judges. Moreover, according to Tomenko, cancellation of President’s immunity will not cause problems for his activity because the Presidnet has protection – procedure of impeachment, foreseen by the Constitution.
