The President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko noted that the European neighborhood policy is perceived in Ukraine exceptionally as additional instrument for realization of its euro integration policy but not as a new framework of relations. The President told during the meeting with the United Kingdom's Minister of State for Europe Geoffrey Hoon.
Speaking about practical aspects of European integration, the President of Ukraine expressed the hope concerning successful negotiations on signing a new base agreement between Ukraine and the EU, having noted that Ukraine and the United Kingdom have common view to this document.
Yushchenko also expressed hope on concluding an agreement concerning simplification of visa regime between Ukraine and the EU.
The President said that Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic achievements are one of the key elements to promote democracy inour country.
The President of Ukraine and the United Kingdom's Minister of State for Europe also discussed relations development between Ukraine and NATO. Yushchenko noted significance of Euro-Atlantic integration for Ukraine and importance cooperation strengthening with the Alliance.
