Ukraine’s PM: the Ukrainian gas-transport system is a property of Ukraine

Ukraine’s PM: the Ukrainian gas-transport system is a property of Ukraine

The Ukrainian gas-transport system was and is a state property. Prime Minister of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych said at a session of the governmental committee on legal policy, defense, international cooperation and European integration, PM’s press office informed ForUm.

The Premier noted that the issue concerning transit of energy carriers through the territory of Ukraine must become a subject for consideration at the level of Yushchenko-Putin intergovernmental commission. Any speculations on this question, created by separate political forces, just harm authority of Ukraine at the international level.

“Once again I want to confirm that the Ukrainian gas-transport system is a property of Ukraine, state property and is not to be changed. It is the priority of the governmental policy,” Yanukovych underlined.

As for joint ventures in gas field, Yanukovych considers that Russia’s participation in construction of Borodchany-Uzhgorod gas pipeline, what will increase volume of transit of Russian gas to Europe, is profitable for all participants of the project.

“Ukraine will get economic advantage, as we will have additional sources of financing. Russia will also get advantage, as it will sell its gas to Europe. In its turn, the European Union will get additional volumes of natural gas industry,” the Premier noted.
