Putin promises to help Ukrainian authorities

Russia’s and Ukraine’s transfer to market relation in gas sphere was an economic decision, not political one. President of Russia Vladimir Putin told Russian and foreign journalists at a live conference.

He reminded that at the beginning of the year 2006 Russian-Ukrainian relations were strained. As regards the issue concerning transit of energy carriers, the RF President noted that the question was solved in favor of transfer to market relations.

“The decision remains the same despite political changes in Ukraine,” Putin underlined.

According to him, relationships between both countries have become even “better and stronger.”

“Russia is always ready to help Ukrainian authorities, in particular in the energy sphere, and even to evade the market somehow,” the RF President explained.
