Donetsk struggles against media-pirates


39 054 infringing CDs, seized from outlets of the region, were destroyed at the Donetsk chemical plant.

Serhiy Nalyvaiko, chief state inspector on intellectual property, informed that the action is aimed to demonstrate to sellers of pirate production that their goods are destroyed, but not returned on counters.

According to him, the destroyed disks were seized from outlets, which were not registered and did not have license.

“Mainly, these disks are from Russia,” Nalyvaiko said. He also noted that grinded CDs are used for making a product for blasting operations.

Nalyvaiko specified that for the year 2006 his department has conducted 26 inspections. As a result, 39 054 items of infringing CDs were seized to the sum of 432.8 ths hryvnias. Sum of fines made 7180 hryvnias.
