Slovak Embassy to focus on representating NATO in Ukraine


The Slovak Foreign Ministry asserts the Slovak Embassy in Ukraine will be engaged in representing NATO in Ukraine for merely two following years. This status was obtained by the Embassy on January 1, “Cabinet press office” reported.

According to the Slovak Foreign Ministry's press service, Slovakia will be enabled to share its experience on reformation and integration processes with Ukraine. Slovakia upholds Ukraine's EuroAtlantic bids and means to assist the Ukrainian society in overcoming stereotypes on NATO. We hope to deal with reliable partners under the slogan "NATO-Ukraine; Trust and Openness", the Slovak Foreign Ministry's press service told.

The Slovak Embassy in Ukraine will officially represent NATO. NATO Representative Offices are usually based in Embassies of their members for two years. Slovakia joined NATO in March 2004, but will be for the first time engaged in a similar event.

The NATO Ukrainian Mission was established in 1997. 2006 saw foundation of the National Center on EuroAtlantic Integration of Ukraine. NATO states its intention to mark the 10th anniversary of a special partnership with Ukraine in 2007.
