In an interview with Kommersant Victor Yushchenko said economic, humanitarian, social and political relations between Ukraine and Russia would develop, President's press office reported.
When he was asked whether Ukrainian-Russian relations would change after March 26, the President replied: “I am sure they will. We must do everything to activate our trade and economic cooperation. I think we should jointly carry out more humanitarian projects in order to leave all these perception stereotypes and myths in the past.”
Mr. Yushchenko also said he hoped Oleh Dyomin, Ukraine’s new ambassador to Russia, “will make the work of our embassy more dynamic.”
Then the President said there had been many achievements in our bilateral relations in 2005: we established the Yushchenko-Putin Commission, conducted the first meeting of its Russian Navy Sub-Commission, increased turnover by 12%, etc.
“Our relations have never been easy. My team inherited lots of unsolved problems. Today we must resolve these problems,” he said.
