President Yushchenko honors Kurenivka landslide victims

Victor Yushchenko honored victims of the 1961 Kurenivka landslide in Kyiv, which killed more than one thousand people, the President press office reported.

“Honoring victims of that tragedy, Ukraine’s government and society must learn to be responsible for each citizen and spare no effort to never repeat past mistakes,” he said.

The Chief of State is convinced that building democracy in Ukraine will help us prevent such tragedies.

“By involving scientists and community in decision-making and acting transparently our government will make such catastrophes impossible,” he opined.
