Ex-PM Timoshenko initiates the denouncement of the gas agreement

Coming out in Lviv press conference, Yulia Tymoshenko revealed that she would appeal to the court in order to dissolve the gas agreement of January 4, Hotline reports.

She also addressed to all citizens of Ukraine urging them to do the same.

Tymoshenko reminded that the agreement of January 4, 2006 was illegal as Naftogaz President Oleksiy Ivchenko was not authorized to sign such document. Timoshenko wants to cancel the agreement in order to return the previous system of gas import and gas transit with the old payment scheme.

Yulia Tymoshenko also urged everybody not to allow a new gas agreement to be signed between the governments of Russia and Ukraine, and not to allow establishing any middle structure, such as RosUkrEnergo.

In her opinion, all the officials, who took part in signing the agreement, as well as Ukraine’s Justice Minister Serhiy Holovaty, should be fired.

In this connection, Monday, January 16, the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko requested of General Office of Public Prosecutor of Ukraine to institute a criminal case against officials of the Cabinet of Ministers and Naftogaz.

According to the demand, in case if the Prosecutor General continues to ignore his direct duties and does not meet the demand of the BYuT, the Bloc will appeal to the Verkhovna Rada with a request to dismiss the Prosecutor General from his office.

Yulia Timoshenko also confirmed that Ukraine should form a delegation for negotiation on agreements concerning the gas supply from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
